15 Jun What to expect during your Dental Check up and Clean Appointment at Boulton Dental, Newcastle
At Boulton Dental we look to make our dental care as individualized as possible. Your appointment may feel very detailed and different from other appointments you have had in the past.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make sure appointments as relaxing as possible for you. Communication is key and there are no judgments! We are here to listen to all your concerns.
During your appointment with one of our Oral Health Therapists, they will assess your Oral health through the following reviews:
- Oral cancer screening
- Review all the oral soft tissues.
- Periodontal assessment
- Review gums and bone around your teeth, checking for any disease
- Home care review
- Assess your brushing, flossing techniques, interdental brushes use.
- Review any products you are using at home, making sure they are the right ones suitable for you
- Dietary review
- Caries/Decay risk assessment
Treatment will follow in the way of –
Teeth will be disclosed with a plaque analyzing gel to review home cleaning
Airflow will follow which will remove the soft plaque and bacteria
Ultrasonic cleaning will then take place removing any calcified plaque
Xrays and photos may be taken depending on your own periodontal and decay risk
The dentist will come into the surgery to do a review of all the assessments. They will inform you of any treatment if required and advise when you need to return. Together we assess and discuss how often you should visit us for your check up and/or clean. There is no one size fits all moreover, what is clinically indicated for you.
Finally, you will leave with a treatment plan if treatment is needed and a goodie bag with your tailored oral health aids.
